The island of Euböa is located in the Aegean. It is the second largest island from Greece after Crete and is unknown by most non-Greeks. A brdige at Chalkida connects the island with the mainland. Kalivia, the location of the house, is a village on the mountain area of the city of Karystos (about 5000 residents). Particularly during the spring, the island is ideal for hikers and nature lovers, because the vegetation shows its beauty during this time. The ‘Dimosari gorge’ with its wild flowers, butterflies and birds is recommended, along with a tour on the Ochi mountain. Fall (September-October) is a popular time for hikes when it is dry. Guides are offered! Castello Rosso, the dragon houses or the nearby Qelle Agia Triada with its chapel and a lot more are all worth seeing. During the summer, the city and its beaches are a popular destination for all from Athens!

Around us….: …is only Greece in its entire originality and unity. The nature of this part of the island (southern Eböa) is beautiful in its own way. There is less green than in the northern part of the island, the landscape is similar to that of the small islands of the Aegean in the south. Southern Euböa has an old history. There are a lot of interesting, mostly Byzantine monuments, churches, monasteries and castles. The fishing harbour, the boats that come and go, stores, taverns and cafes, the cosy locals, people relaxing and a few foreigners creates a humane and Mediterranean atmosphere. Line bus connections between Karystos and Chalkida (about 127 km) come twice a day. The ferry connections to the mainland go from Marmari to Rafina or from Nea Styra to Agia marina. Karystos – marmari about 12/15 km, Karystos – nea Styra about 40 km

‘Greeces colourful jewelry box’ – Evia -: The island of Evia offers holiday goers culture and relaxation. Euböa is the second largest island from Greece after Crete and houses all of its beauties and charms that a guest expects from a holiday region. Furthermore, it still has its typical character that once led a Greek poet to refer to Euböa as ‘Greece’s largest jewelry box’. Enchanting mountain landscapes with summits of up to 1800 m, mountain villages and monasteries alternate with fertile valleys and high plateaus, thick forests and fully karstified landscapes. Bays, beaches and hiking options: Karystos and the surroundings offer a lot of swimming pleasure. Primarily sand and pebble beaches invite you to go swimming or walking by the water. The selection between a less frequented bay, the lively beach near the city or the ‘youth beach’ with a disco at the exit of the city remains your own choice. The region of Karystos also has Kalamos Beach, Livadi Beach, Linari Beach and the beaches within the Gulf of Karystos. Those who like to hike will particularly enjoy April to the end of June, since the vegetation is in full bloom during this time. We also recommend the nature reserve ‘Dimosari gorge’ with its rare wild flowers, butterflies and birds. During the fall (September-October), a popular time for hikes, the region is dry and sparse. Perched on the rocks above the Aegean sea, Delenia embraces the sunrise and offers breathtaking panoramic views from the extensive grounds. Situated in south Evia, it is a mere 1.5 hours from the International Airport, and yet the estate itself lies on an undiscovered corner of the Aegean. Complete privacy, but easily accessible. Delenia consists of a total of 6 buildings; five bedrooms (all en-suite, with their own cooling systems, fireplace and under floor heating for the winter months), two kitchens, two living rooms, one study and three dining areas. The outdoor spaces are the epicenter of life in the summer months, and have been designed accordingly: a large terrace with clear views of the Aegean; two al fresco dining areas, plus a stone barbeque and traditional Greek bread oven; tennis and basketball courts; an outdoor four-poster bed; and, of course, the sea water swimming pool. The layout encourages togetherness, but also allows for privacy.

Situated on the South Eastern coast of Evia, Delenia is in a private position with no immediate neighbours, yet still conveniently close to Athens, and accessible by car. The nearest village is 20 minutes away, and a car is essential. One car (possibly two) comes as standard with the rental, but if your group is large you may need to rent another one or two. Airport pickup and drop off is also included in the price, for groups of up to eight. For larger groups please contact us to discuss the details. The estate is right on the water’s edge, with a path leading down to the sea. There are sandy beaches nearby too.
